The Churchill Era - an educational resource
"This
educational website has been specially designed to enable teachers and students
to make use of archive material in the classroom. The Churchill Era will be
divided into units reflecting the great public issues and events which arose
during the long career of Sir Winston Churchill, starting with the First World
War. Each unit will contain two or three specific enquiries, consisting of
exercises which can be addressed using archival material. These exercises
include document analysis, comparison of documents, and work with pictures, maps
and statistics. The site also features a comprehensive glossary section giving
background information, a timeline for each enquiry, listing the key events of
the period, and information for teachers. ..." (spartacus)

Amerikansk side om Churchill fra Library of Congress.
"This exhibition examines the life and career of Winston Spencer
Churchill and emphasizes his lifelong links with the United States--the
nation he called "the great Republic." The exhibition comes nearly forty
years after the death of Winston Churchill and sixty years after the

London under anden verdenskrig

other hardships of war? What happened to the children when London was in the

Air Raids, Daily Life, Children at war and Shelters - and contain photographs,
paintings, posters, diaries, personal reflections and local newsletters from and
about the people of London.
www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/2WWhomeAC.htm England
under 2.verdenskrig
During the Second World War a school teacher in
England was imprisoned for "advancing defeatist theories" to his pupils.
This is one of the interesting facts included in this online simulation
on the Home Front. In the lesson the students have to imagine they are
living in Britain in December 1941. The students are the asked to write
a report on one aspect of government policy (evacuation, rationing,
refugees, etc.). Every student has to report back to the class about the
topic he or she has investigated. They then provide a report on what has
been happening in their assigned area since the outbreak of the war. The
student then has to make proposals about the changes they would like to
see in government policy. These proposals are then discussed and voted
on by the rest of the class.

Om David Lloyd George - britisk statsmand, Premier
Minister
"David Lloyd George is probably the greatest international statesman to come
from Wales. His influence was very marked on the life of Wales, the United
Kingdom and Europe. He was a Liberal member of Parliament for fifty years and
served in government as President of the Board of Trade (1905-08), Chancellor of
the Exchequer (1908-15), Arms Minister (1915-16) and War Minister (1916). In
December 1916 at the height of the First World War he became Prime Minister and
held that office until 1922. This online exhibition was originally prepared in
March 1995 to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of his death and focuses on
both public and private aspects of his life" (Spartacus)
