This section of Andrew Field's website offers explanations and articles on
use of ICT within history. All have been written by history teachers in the
spirit of sharing good practice and ideas. It is hoped that this section will
continue to develop further, and submissions for future case studies will be
very gratefully received. Currently the website includes examples of how
PowerPoint and Digital Projectors have been used in the classroom.

Listen to history
You can relive moments in history by visiting the audio section of the
History site. From the announcement of Edward VIII's abdication to a
lecture by Einstein, or Bill Haley explaining the concept of rock and
roll to a BBC reporter, you can select from subject areas or search for
specific people, topics and place names in the Reportage section. Then
why not move onto the Oral History area and listen to personal testimony
from members of the public

www.casahistoria.net/
CasaHistoria is the History website of Northlands School, and international
school in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The English language site is designed to
offer links to History sites connected with IB and GCSE syllabuses in 20th
century history. It has been developed by the Department over a three year
period, is very extensive and offers outlines of each included site along with
its value as a source of information. It was intended primarily as a tool for
Northlands students, but is increasingly being accessed by a wider audience at
university, A level and IB. |

Association of Teachers Websites
The Association of Teachers' Websites (ATW) is a new
organisation that
attempts to showcase the huge range of quality online teaching materials
available free in the UK at websites created by and run by teachers. It
will also offer a powerful collective voice for teachers on the internet
and will help develop and encourage best practice in the classroom.
Website owners can apply to become a member as long as they fulfil the
following criteria and are voted on by a majority of the member sites in
the relevant curriculum area: (i) They supply high quality teaching
resources and materials; (ii) They are built and maintained by teachers or
ex-teachers; (iii) They are free to use; (iv) They are comprehensive and
user friendly. So far there are six history websites in the ATW.

The present Schools History Project is the successor to the project funded by
the Schools Council in 1972 for "History 13-16". The project suggested that:
"Many teachers would find helpful a project which would provide stimulus,
support and materials to help them revitalise their own practice in general and
more particularly help them to encourage more pupil participation in their study
of History." The Project began initially at the University of Leeds and
transferred to Trinity & All Saints College in 1979, where it has been based
ever since. The SHP website includes resources for an in-depth study of the
American west and the US Cavalry.

www.thehistorysite.co.uk
primært folkeskolen. Lærerafdelingen kræver personlig registrering
This website has been produced by Benjamin Collinge at Chilton Trinity
Technology College. It offers some extremely useful resources as well as an
interactive Henry VIII and a virtual tour of Chepstow Castle. The History Site
can show you as a teacher what a good format for web pages might look like,
provide you with ideas for teaching and some valuable resources from the tudors
through to GCSE Crime and Punishment. As well as acting as an excellent site for
students, with its good factual content and developing interactivity, it is
hoped that in the future many more schools will come on board and help the
History Site develop a ring of sites devoted to the creation of good, easy to
use websites that aid both teaching and learning.
