indmarchen i Rhinlandet 1936
On March 7th 1936 German troops marched into the Rhineland. This was Hitler's
first illegal act in foreign relations since coming to power in 1933 and it
threw the European allies, especially France and Britain, into confusion. What
should they do about his actions? These documents reveal the motives and
attitudes of the British government as they discuss their options. This activity
involves students studying extracts from the Minutes of the Cabinet Meeting on
March 11th, 1936.

Nazisternes
forfølgelser af homoseksuelle.
Between 1933 and 1945, Germany's National Socialist (Nazi) government under
Adolf Hitler used its monopoly of authority to attempt to rid German territory
of people who did not fit its vision of a "master Aryan race." Foremost among
the so - called racial enemies, according to the Nazis' antisemitic ideology,
were the Jews. Many other groups were targets of persecution and even murder
under the Nazis' ideology, including Germans with mental and physical
disabilities, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gypsies, Poles, and Soviet
prisoners of war. This United States Holocaust Memorial Museum online exhibition
examines the campaign of persecution and violence against the homosexuals of

U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. In addition to an overview of the Holocaust
and its history, Berenbaum contributes more than 25 related articles, some of
which probe unresolved issues, such as why the Allies didn't bomb the
extermination camps. He also addresses the 'artistic response' to the tragedy,
examining how artists in every medium have sought to give voice to the horror,
pain and loss of the Holocaust...The site includes a number of multimedia

several sets of discussion questions for use in high-school classrooms."

"Voices of the Holocaust" compiles the work of American psychologist David

krigsforbryderdomstolen : retssagen mod lægerne
"On December 9, 1946, an American military tribunal opened criminal
proceedings against 23 leading German physicians and administrators for their
willing participation in war crimes and crimes against humanity. In Nazi
Germany, German physicians planned and enacted the "Euthanasia"
Program, the systematic killing of those they deemed "unworthy of life."
The victims included the mentally retarded, the institutionalized mentally ill,
and the physically impaired. Further, during World War II, German physicians
conducted pseudoscientific medical experiments utilizing thousands of
concentration camp prisoners without their consent. Most died or were
permanently crippled as a result. Most of the victims were Jews, Poles,
Russians, and Gypsies. After almost 140 days of proceedings, including the
testimony of 85 witnesses and the submission of almost 1,500 documents, the
American judges pronounced their verdict on August 20, 1947. Sixteen of the
doctors were found guilty. Seven were sentenced to death. They were executed
on June 2, 1948." Fra the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum :

auschwitz.dk/Denmark.htm
Louis Bülows websted
On April 9, 1940, Germany attacked Denmark. From then until 1945, Denmark was
under German occupation. King Christian X remained in Denmark, unlike his fellow
monarchs in Norway and the Netherlands who fled to England. When an edict was
issued that all Jews had to wear yellow Stars of David, Christian X went on the
radio to say that all Danes should wear the star, and was one of the first to be
seen wearing one the following day. In most Nazi-occupied countries, the Germans
found it easy to deport the Jews. No one defended them the way the Danes did.
This website also provides information on how the Danish resistance managed to
help 99 per cent of all Jews in Denmark to escape to neutral Sweden during the
war.

Holocaust and a Boy (dansk websted)
"...Sometimes we may look at the gray pictures in books about the
Holocaust and wonder what their lives were like. One such picture is of a small
Jewish child in a cap and knickers being led at gunpoint by a uniformed Nazi. A
fellow named Louis Bülow in Denmark has done some research, and has developed
this Web page to tell this boy's story. His name is Tsvi C. Nussbaum, and his
story serves to put a human face on the monstrous tragedy. Be warned that there
are graphic and horrific images on this site, so it's really not suitable for
young children. Bülow has also included other Holocaust-related pages at the
site, including pages about Anne Frank and Oskar Schindler. The site is
obviously a labor of love, and these very human stories can help us appreciate
the enormity of what happened.
