Macbeth & Hamlet These pages were a homespun creation of Rodger Burnich (a teacher at
Westhill High School in Stamford, Connecticut) and summarize in a
contemporary, chatty translation the five acts of these two Shakespeare
classics. There are the occasional typos and some Shakespeareans will take
issue with some of Burnich's readings, but the pages could be a helpful
guide to new readers of the plays. With this resource, teachers might give
students the activity of doing another "translation" into the
lingo of "surf dudes," "valley girls," or "hip
hoppers." |

Shakespeare Online
- virkelig god, også elevegnet.
"..This Shakespeare resource center is run by Amanda
Mabillard, who is also the Shakespeare Guide at About.com.
Aspiring to be the ultimate online Bard resource (and succeeding in
spades), the site features his complete works, an Elizabethan glossary
(a very handy item), advice on how to study Shakespeare, essays, plot
summaries, quizzes, a lengthy biography, ... a huge links list of Shakespearean and
other literary Web sites as well as a search feature. Easy to
navigate, this is perhaps the best study guide for Shakespeare on the
WWW, if not the planet. If you need to find out something about
the man and his works, it's almost certainly here. Five
stars. " (netsurfer)
"This is a wonderful site with play analysis, quizzes, glossaries, plots, sources and much more. It is perhaps
geared primarily toward K-12 students but could be of much use to introductory
Shakespeare instructors and students..." (infomine)

Shakespeare's Birthplace in 1847 in order to preserve it as a national monument.
Its main objective is to promote appreciation of Shakespeare's works and to
maintain the five houses in or near Stratford-upon-Avon directly connected with
the dramatist and his family. This site provides information about the
Shakespeare-related properties in Stratford including information on exhibits and
educational activities. It also provides a good deal of information about

The First Folio and Early Quartos of William Shakespeare These 46 texts "are the earliest appearances in print of some of
Shakespeare's plays and poems. The spelling, puncuation, and other early modern
printing conventions have not been normalized, a factor to be kept in mind when
planning a search. Lineation for each play is "to the end," that is,
running straight through from first to last line rather than restarting with
each new scene."

Enjoying King Lear "King Lear is no tranquil amusement but a
harrowing play piled high with poisonings, stabbings, plucking out of
eyeballs, jealousies, rivalries, plotting and counterplotting, and
murderous jealousies... Ed Friedlander, MD, a pathologist in Kansas
City, sets out to help us understand why it speaks so powerfully to us
and why we watch it with such mesmerizing intensity. Ed's site is a
big page that explains what's going on in a refreshingly and sometimes
quirky way, and is nicely illustrated with scenes from - we assume -
stagings of the play. ... all kinds of links to other Lear stuff
including scads of other commentaries and ideas, conventional and wild,
including several versions of the text. Overall the site is an
excellent illustration of the enriching aspects of the Web as an
outlet for folk to express themselves effectively outside their
immediate professional domain. "
