Virtual Renaissance
This site combines real people, such as Shakespeare and Elizabeth I, and real places like the Globe Theatre, Sistine Chapel, Tower of London, and University of Padua, with generic fictionalized locations and citizens, to create an entertaining and inclusive picture of Renaissance life. Information can be accessed through a wide variety of characters, locations, and chronologies as well as a general introduction to the period. There are a myriad of links to related sites and citations to written sources.
An outstanding ThinkQuest winner.

The Art of Renaissance Science
"
This website presents an illustrated essay examining the interaction between science and art in Renaissance and early-modern Italy. The discovery and application of mathematical perspective forms an important aspect of this essay, as do Galileo's studies of motion, especially his experiments with inclined planes and his analysis of accelerated motion associated with the leaning tower of Pisa. The first part of the essay is about Galileo, his life and discoveries. The author then looks at the evolution of perspective in Italian art and architecture, before returning again to Galileo's experiments with motion. The conclusion argues that Galileo achieved a synthesis of theory and observation, and that the mathematical principles of physical reality discovered by the new scientists also facilitated art. Some sections of the site include video clips." (fra http://www.intute.ac.uk/artsandhumanities/cgi-bin/fullrecord.pl?handle=Humbul9509 )

udstilling på Royal Academy
Manuscript illumination, the quintessential medieval art form, enjoyed a final flourish
during the Renaissance. In the wake of the invention of printing, Flemish illuminators
created extravagant and lavish manuscripts in which their art was revitalized and given new direction.
This brilliant new style resulted in some of the most colourful and luminous book illumination of the late medieval era and quickly gained patronage throughout Europe. Illuminating the Renaissance at the Royal Academy (29th November 2003 - 22nd February, 2004 ) is the first exhibition to bring together the greatest works produced by Flemish illuminators ..

"I am the way into the doleful city, I am the way into eternal grief… ." Not hot enough yet? Journey on then to Renaissance Dante in print (1472-1629), an online exhibition of editions of Dante's Divine Comedy from the collections of the University of Notre Dame and the Newberry Library. The site illustrates Dante's reception during the Renaissance and the early history of book printing. We round out the tour with the 1999 Research Edition of the Divine Comedy. It provides three complete online versions, one in Italian and two English translations, along with a choice of three illustrators. These Web sites will ensnare you in wonder and amazement." www.johnguy.co.uk/history.php  Tudortiden - glimrende: tidl "tudors.org" : " "Tudors.org" is an authoritative, academic website, produced by one of the most eminent experts in Tudor history (1485-1603), Professor John Guy. This website is based on a collection of essays, and aims in its own words "to dispense some of the most up-to-date information regarding Tudor England that is available". This site is of great use and interest to undergraduates, researchers, and postgraduates alike, as it presents alternative views on one of the most popularly taught subjects of English or British History - the Tudors....The author of "Thomas More" and "The Tudor Monarchy" has placed the unabridged versions of the works online. The further reading section includes links to websites, bibliographies and studies of special topics and is an excellent starting point for those interested in Tudor history. Themes discussed in works on the site include: Henry VIII and Wolsey; ...Elizabeth, politics and the settlement; and the Tudor monarchy as a Renaissance monarchy. This is a truly excellent resource and is simply arranged. It is a good example of an academic website by and for academics."
