ddonline.tomsnyder.com/     Decision, Decisions
Controversial issues are often difficult to teach. Decisions, Decisions is a site that provides teachers with complete lessons and lesson plans on issues as different as prayer in schools or genetically modified foods. This is a for-profit site with a free 45-day trial period. Nonetheless, it's well worth investigating. For example, the genetically modified foods lesson is couched in terms of a US senator attempting to develop a position on the issue. Position papers are available from the site covering a range of opinions; students read the papers and vote on what position their senator will support. These are engaging lessons that teachers will find useful in the secondary school classroom. Current events teachers will find the cases interesting and thoughtful. Links to other sites are also a rich resource. (
